Israeli police: Demonstrations expected over Palestine statehood bid

Micky Rosenfeld, Israeli police spokesman, anticipates demonstrations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem:

"We have heightened the security alert to one level below the highest.

"Twenty-two thousand police officers have been mobilised, with emphasis on Judaea and Samaria [the West Bank] and East Jerusalem. We hope that any demonstrations will be peaceful."
