Hain: Labour ‘hollowed out’ by New Labour years

Shadow Welsh secretary Peter Hain comments to the Independent newspaper about Labour’s loss of the general election and the upcoming policy review process:

“Ed Miliband believes very strongly that, however successful we were as a government and New Labour was as a project, it disempowered our members and through that, disempowered our supporters.

“We lost both and we lost the election. We have got to reinvigorate the party and re-enthuse our supporters. They have got to be missionaries, which they have not been for a long time. The party has been hollowed out.”
